The Stolen Dream
The Hall of Whispers
The Hall of Whispers is the name given to the collective worship of Lorelei, Kelin and Farrian. Derisively dismissed as Scourge Houses by some, The Hall of Whispers allows worshippers a place to confess their transgressions, record their deeds and receive atonement through either monetary donations or corporal punishment.
Priests of Lorelei pursue veneration of their goddess through lives of asceticism; their absence from ordinary society aids them in their social role of confessors. Kelin’s priests, by contrast, are highly sought after by nobles, aristocrats and merchants because of their abilities to serve as scribes; The Law-Giver is held in high esteem as the patron of deliberative bodies and bureaucrats. Priests of Farrian, however, are held in rather less esteem; proficient in the ways of the whip, Farrian’s Tribunes are charged with administering penance and contrition to those who seek it. The Tribunes’ reputation with their scourges encourages many of the faithful to avoid their tender ministrations and opt, instead, to show their sorrow through paying the atonement fee set by the faith.
Ilista and Farrian’s priests often serve the most visible role in the temple as confessors and punishers; Kelin’s priesthood is more comfortable with its role within the community.
